Genesis 1:1(KJV) 1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. John 3:16(KJV) 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God had a plan for His people and He still does. What are your plans for serving God? Come join us in worship you will be glad you did. Pastor Harold E. Miller
What role does faith play in my accepting the Lord in a born again relationship? Romans 5:1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Being justified means just as if I had never sinned. We can have peace of mind and heart, when we allow our faith to lead us to the grace of God. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. Faith gives us hope beyond this life and the evidence lives within us as we feel the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I have never seen Christ, but I do believe because of the Word of God being mixed with faith. If I did not believe there were life after death, what would I have to hold in my heart? I would have no hope at all and would be miserable. Faith is the vehicle that will drive my Christian walk and allow me to grow in grace daily. For without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is the strength within one that says, "yes I can do the job before me." Yes we can live a sanctified life before the Lord. Faith is the key to understanding the promises of God. Where would I find how to be saved? NKJV Romans 10:8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” £ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): NKJV Romans 10:9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. NKJV Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We confess our sins and accept Christ into our lives. We then start a journey in faith brought about by the grace of the Lord. None of us deserve it; however, it is a free gift given to us by Jesus Christ paying the price for all who will accept Him. After giving your life unto the Lord you need to find a good church family. You will need Christian fellowship and encouragement. There is no perfect churches, but there are churches that will love you and welcome you to be a part of them. I give a heart felt welcome to anyone to attend Honey Comb Church of God. You will be greeted with a hand shake and a smile. Written by Pastor Harold E. Miller Pictures of what was in the past and what is now. From 1972 to 2019.
Disciples are needed today more than ever in working for he Lord. Many may think the day of discipleship was over, when the disciples became Apostles. It was not, they made disciples of people in every church that was established. We need disciples working in church today, reaching out in every direction to bring others unto the Lord, Jesus Christ. Christians are to be the light of the world allowing Christ to shine from every step. If we are trying to hide the light of God we probably need to check our relationship with Him. God's light can never be hidden if we are truly saved. I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I want the world to see Him shining out of my life everywhere I go. This morning I will be bringing a message on how discipleship will change your life and the church. Come be a part of this great teaching from the Word of God. Come and be a disciple and learn the things God will use you to accomplish. Yes, every born again child of God can and should be a disciple of Christ. Each of us should be able to reach into the dark paths of sin and draw others to the safety of the Cross where Christ's blood covered us. Jesus said, " Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." Do we love the Lord enough to feed His lambs, do we love the Lord enough to feed his sheep, and do we love the Lord enough to become disciples? Sunday School 9:30 morning worship 10:30 and evening worship 6. p. m. Written by Pastor Harold E. Miller
No church tonight, Wednesday, November 14, because ice is supposed to start before church would be out. Be safe!
I saw one of the most moving acts of love yesterday in a funeral I believe I have ever seen. A young child went over to his dad, who was really having a hard time with the loss of his grandfather, put his arms around his neck and hugged him while patting him on the back. We all could learn from his actions. He loves his daddy so much he wanted to make things better for him. We should all have that kind of compassion for those we love. The minister did a great job telling all of us of a successful life that was lived very well. Love will be the main ingredient we leave behind that will be remembered by more people than anything else we have done. Some times we need to pay more attention to little children and how they learn to work things out. I know when I was a child growing up I thought mom and dad would always be there for me. They were all of my childhood and taught me well the ways of life. They are both gone now and I have done my best to teach my children the values of life. Each generation leaves memories burned into the minds of their children. I have listened to many make the statement, when they have kids of their own, Oh no, I have become my parents. Isn't it remarkable how much different life becomes when we have children of our own and want the best for them. We should all practice sharing our lives with true life changing values and these can be found by following the Ten Commandments. I was raised to say yes sir and yes mama to my elders. I was taught to say please when I want something and thank you when I received it. I still practice these greetings today and especially when I am in a restaurant with someone waiting on me. Life is a learning process and we all have stories of failure some where along the road, but we all have stories of great successes too. Teach high standards to children and most of them will not forget them. What are people going to say about you when you leave this world? Blessings on all in God.
We had a great time doing the Coal days float and bringing back some memories of the old original church. Since no one knew what the Honey Comb rock looked like, we did our best to make the shapes and i believe it turned out well. The parade theme also let us add the church history to the float. Thanks everyone who helped and came to ride in the parade. Hope to do more this fall.
Thanks for the adults and kids who worked hard to make it possible! Great job!!
Coal Days Parade is tonight at 6 pm for all those wanting to ride on the float. Be at parade route no later than 5:30 so we can make sure everyone is settled in. Wear a yellow or black shirt and black pants if you have it. If you have a church shirt that will be good too. We’ll be playing I’ll Fly Away on the float everyone can sing along. Get a hold of Brenda Stuby if you have any questions.
All those wanting to help work on the float tonight, we will meet at the Shawneetown quick mart at 6pm and then follow Brenda Stuby (or someone) to her Dads house from there. Let Faith Blair know if you have any questions?
Today in Children's Church we talked about Memorial Day and built memorials.
